City of Bloomington to host Juneteenth celebration

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) – The City of Bloomington announced plans for this year’s Juneteenth celebration at Switchyard Park. The action will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 17.

This free and family-friendly event will feature free food, games and music. Black-owned business will also be at the celebration for event-goers to purchase their available products.

Those going to the event are allowed to bring food, non-alcoholic beverages, chairs, and picnic tables.

Juneteenth is the nation’s newest official federal holiday, signed into law by President Biden in 2021. It is an annual commemoration marking the end of slavery.
