BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) — A Bloomington mother is charged with a long list of felony drug and child neglect charges after police allegedly found meth, fentanyl, and other drug paraphernelia throughout her home, including in her children’s bedrooms.
Bloomington Police arrested and charged Karina Moore, 33, with the following charges:
- Dealing meth, a level 2 felony
- Dealing a controlled substance, a level 2 felony
- Possession of meth, a level 3 felony
- 2 counts of neglect of a dependent, a level 5 felony
- Possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony
According to court documents, when police executed a search warrant of Moore’s home on First Street on March 1, they found zip-lock bags identified to be meth in her a dresser draw in her bedroom. Police also reportedly found blue tablets that investigators determined were counterfeit oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl.
Court documents report that police also allegedly found 56 grams of what was determined to be spice.
Police then moved to a nearby bedroom to continue their search, which Moore said belonged to her two-year-old child. Court documents reveal that detectives found a small Marvel backpack in the closet that had two black metal safes. Inside, police allegedly found baggies with residue, and two different types of tablets that need a prescription to possess.
In the 12-year-old child’s room, police reportedly found numerous hypodermic syringes.
In an interview with police after the search warrant, Moore reportedly admitted to police that she is an active meth user. She also said that the drugs were likely planted in her home by someone else. Police didn’t buy her story, saying her account had several inconsistencies.
Moore had an initial hearing in court on Tuesday, according to online court records.
