Woman allegedly drives the wrong way on interstate, bites officers during arrest

DUBOIS, Ind. — A Corydon woman is in jail after allegedly driving into oncoming traffic across four counties and then biting the officers attempting to arrest her, according to Indiana State Police.

ISP said that multiple people called 911 to report a wrong-way driver on Interstate 64 in Spencer County. Troopers later found the car traveling west in the eastbound lanes.

One of the troopers was able to successfully use spike strips to stop the car and make contact with the driver, identified as Lauren Jones, 33, of Corydon.

Jones reportedly became uncooperative and combative during the arrest and bit one of the troopers as she was being arrested. She was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being booked in the Dubois County jail on the following charges:

  • Operating while intoxicated with a prior OWI, a Level 6 Felony;
  • Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 Felony;
  • Battery on a police officer, a Level 6 Felony;
  • Obstruction of justice, a Level 6 Felony;
  • Resisting law enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor;
  • Criminal mischief, a Class B Misdemeanor;
  • Disorderly conduct, a Class B Misdemeanor;
  • Reckless driving, a Class B Misdemeanor;
  • Obstructing traffic, a Class B Misdemeanor;
