car-crash

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) - A two-car crash killed the drivers of both vehicles along State Road 37, Monday afternoon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's office.

Officers responded to SR-37 and Zikes Road just shortly after 3 p.m. for a reported head-on collision just nine miles south of Bloomington. When deputies arrived on the scene, they located a single occupant entrapped in each vehicle.

After speaking with witnesses, investigators determined that a 2012 White Chevrolet Express Van was traveling southbound on SR-37 when it signaled to the right and suddenly veered left crossing the median, striking a 2015 Black Mercedes Sprinter Van that was traveling northbound.

Both drivers were administered emergency care but were pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the victims will not yet be released until the Monroe County Coroner completes its investigation.

State Road 37 and Zikes Rd was closed for several hours as authorities pieced together the collision, but has since reopened.
