BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) - A man is facing a battery on a public official charge for allegedly striking a Monroe County Sheriff's Officer Saturday morning.
Police say that Monroe County Sergeant Avery Brahaum was conducting a patrol outside of the jail around 11:30 a.m. Saturday when the suspect, Christopher Head, struck Brahaum over the back of the head with a thermos.
Brahaum fought through the injury and bleeding and was able to detain Head.
Sgt. Brahaum was treated for his injuries at the hospital and received numerous staples to seal the 3" laceration.
Police say that Head allegedly caused several other batteries on the B-Line Trail, during a time where numerous events were going on nearby.
