MIDDLETOWN, Ind. (IUSTV News) - The driver of a Google Street View vehicle led police on a multi-county chase Monday evening, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour, according to a Facebook post from the Middletown Police Department.
Police say around 5 p.m., the Middletown Police Chief observed a vehicle passing other vehicles on westbound Highway 36. The vehicle allegedly was traveling at speeds over 100 miles per hour.
As the chief caught up with the Google Street View car, police say the driver refused to stop.
The pursuit continued into Madison County where police say speeds began to slow down. The chase came to an end when the driver attempted to turn south just east of Pendleton, Indiana.
Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove through a yard before getting stuck in a creek.
The driver of the Google Street View car, Coleman Ferguson (of Florida), was taken into custody. Police say Ferguson told them he worked for Google, and was afraid to stop.
He was cleared after receiving medical treatment and was transported to the Henry County Jail and charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 Felony.
Middletown is located in Henry County in central Indiana, about 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
