Bloomington man arrested for alleged murder Saturday morning

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) - A Bloomington man was arrested on a charge of murder after a person was found dead inside a home on the north side of Bloomington, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office (MCSO).

MCSO says that officers responded to a home along E SR 45 for an unknown disturbance around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Neighbors reportedly told police the people at the home fight often.

The Sheriff's office says that deputies checked the home and found a person dead with an apparent gunshot wound to the head, along with an AR-15-style rifle and civilian-style stun gun.

Following an investigation, the Sheriff's office says 34-year-old Bryce Leighton was booked into the Monroe County Jail on a charge of murder, a level 1 felony.

The Monroe County Coroner has identified the victim as 48-year-old Tara Langley, of Bloomington. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Terre Haute.

The investigation remains open by Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Monroe County Coroner’s Office.
