RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. (IUSTV News) - A juvenile was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after reportedly falling from a tree while hunting, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

DNR officials say the incident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday near Friendship, Indiana.

An initial investigation found the juvenile was climbing into a tree stand when the straps broke and the child fell nearly 20 feet from the tree.

The child was airlifted to a Cincinnati hospital in serious condition.

Conservation officers say that the most common hunting-related injuries are from accidents involving tree stands and elevated platforms.

"All hunters should wear a full body safety harness when going up to and getting down from elevated platforms," the DNR said in a release.
