Monroe County Sheriff's Department searching for possible shooting suspect

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) - The Monroe County Sheriff's Department (MCSO) is asking for the public's help in finding a man wanted in connection with a shooting that left a man injured early Monday morning.

Police identified the suspect as 64-year-old Bret Sherrow, who police described as a white male, 5’10” and 200 pounds.

MCSO says that deputies were sent to IU Health Bloomington for a report of a male who arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. According to the release, the victim was at a property in Stinesville, IN gathering some items.

Police say that Sherrow, a known neighbor to the victim, reportedly came onto the property and pulled out a gun, then placed it in his pocket. The victim reported that Sherrow started shoving him, and that the victim used pepper spray in an effort to get him to stop, but was not able to.

The victim told police that Sherrow then pulled out the gun, and that as the victim was running away, he heard a gunshot, and was struck in the buttocks.

Police say that they have been unable to locate the suspect. Sherrow has a pending charge of Battery with a deadly weapon, a level 5 Felony.
