BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) - A Morgan County teen was arrested in connection with the Oct. 22 battery and armed robbery of an IU student, according to the IU Police Department (IUPD).

18-year-old Jack D. Hobbs IV was located and jailed by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department following an investigation by IUPD and the Monroe County High Tech Crime Unit.

Hobbs was booked on charges of Armed Robbery, a level 3 felony, Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, a level 5 felony, and Intimidation a level 5 felony.

Online court records show Hobbs is due back in court for a hearing on Dec. 6, and a jury trial is set for May 6 of next year.

IUSTV News has reached out to obtain a mugshot of the suspect. This article will be updated when it is made available.

As IUSTV News previously reported, a student victim told police that they attended an off-campus party with a group of individuals.

After the party, the suspect reportedly offered to give the victim a ride back to campus.

The suspect reportedly drove the victim to the parking lot at the 13th Street parking lot where he battered and robbed the victim with a handgun.

The man got away with a cell phone, watch, backpack, shoes, and wallet before fleeing from the area.

IUPD was not able to locate the suspect at the time of the incident, but said that there was no imminent threat to campus.

The victim was treated at Monroe Hospital for minor injuries.
