Using a name that was found on the back of the piece of paper handed to the bank employee, investigators identified the suspect as Byron Johnson, 35.
A search of police records showed that Johnson matched the physical description given by both the IU Credit Union employee and by an employee at the Circle K gas station on Third Street, which police say was robbed early Tuesday morning.
Bloomington Police used BMV records to get a vehicle description but were unable to locate Johnson until Wednesday morning, at Kinser Flat Apartments.
He was taken to the Bloomington Police Department for an interview and was later jailed on the following charges.
- Robbery - Level 5 felony (2 counts)
- Intimidation - Level 6 felony
- Theft - Class A misdemeanor (2 counts)
Online court records show Johnson had his initial hearing on Dec. 21.
