BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) - The IU chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity is suspended from campus for hazing, dishonest conduct, and retaliation, becoming the second fraternity to be suspended this semester.

Late last month, the IU chapter of Delta Upsilon fraternity was suspended by its Board of Directors for hazing and endangering others.

The IU chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha will be eligible to return to campus as early as December 2026 upon meeting IU requirements.

"Following an investigation into credible complaints regarding significant hazing concerns, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated leadership and the Vice Provost for Student Life, Dr. Lamar Hylton, have mutually agreed to suspend the Alpha Phi Alpha chapter at Indiana University immediately. This decision is in the interest of the health, safety, and well-being of the chapter members and the campus community."

Mark Bode, Indiana University Executive Director for Media Relations

In September, Alpha Phi Alpha was put on cease and desist for hazing. Currently, there are three greek organizations on cease and desist for hazing, according to the Office of Student Life’s website.
