BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) - A 21-year-old man is in jail and faces a murder charge after police say he pulled a gun at a house party, killing one man and injuring another early Sunday morning.

Bloomington Police say that around 2 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the area of 500 S. Park Avenue for a report of a "weapons-related" call. BPD said that as officers arrived, bystanders informed police that someone had been shot. Police reportedly found a 23-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his chest.

According to the release from the Bloomington Police Department, attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful and he died on the scene. The Monroe County Coroner identified him as Tyriq Bridgwaters, of Bloomington. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday in Terre Haute.

Another 19-year-old male was also found with a gunshot wound, and was taken to the hospital with injuries "not believed to be life-threatening."

BPD says that witnesses who were at the party told investigators that a "larger-build" white male with facial hair wearing a pink shirt pulled a handgun and fired the weapon into a crowd.

The description of the suspect was shared with other law enforcement agencies, and a trooper with the Indiana State Police found a vehicle with a passenger who matched the description of the suspect. Officers took all the passengers in the vehicle into custody for questioning and reportedly found a handgun in the car.

After interviews, police booked Isaiah Ramos, 21, into the Monroe County Jail on charges of murder and criminal recklessness.

While speaking to witnesses at the party, police say that Ramos and the other passengers in the vehicle were denied into the party because one of the people reportedly had a handgun in their waistband. BPD said the men got into a physical fight, which carried over into a nearby alley. Witnesses told police that they saw Ramos fire a handgun into the crowd.

Bloomington Police will continue to investigate the shooting and urges anyone with information to call Detective Rob Shrake at (812)339-4477.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
