2024 Bloomington City Council holds first meeting, elects new leadership

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) - The newly-elected Bloomington City Council met for their first official meeting of the new year Wednesday and selected a new council president, vice-president, and parliamentarian.

Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson and Deputy Mayor Gretchen Knapp were also at the meeting.

District I Representative and previous Council Vice President Isabel Piedmont-Smith was elected as the new Council President, newly-elected At-Large Representative Andy Ruff was elected to Council Vice President, and newly-elected District III Representative Hopi Stosberg was elected as Council Parliamentarian.

All three council leadership positions had only one nomination each, and all were decided by a unanimous vote from the nine-person city council.

Council President Isabel Piedmont-Smith also made several appointments to various council committees:
