PAOLI, Ind. (IUSTV News) - A Bloomington woman is facing charges related to the death of an Orange County inmate in December, according to the Indiana State Police.
31-year-old Sarah Shipman turned herself in to police on Wednesday after an arrest warrant was issued on Monday.
Shipman was booked into jail on charges of:
- Dealing in a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death – Level 1 Felony
- Dealing a Schedule 1 in a Penal of Juvenile Facility – Level 5 Felony
- Trafficking with an Inmate – Level 5 Felony
- OWI (Prior) – Level 6 Felony
On the morning of Dec. 30, Indiana State Police opened an investigation at the Orange County Jail after corrections officers found a woman unresponsive in her jail cell while delivering breakfast
61-year-old Jeanne Ross of Mooresville was given medical aid, but declared dead.
An investigation found Ross was transported to the Orange County jail from Hendricks County Jail on Dec. 26 on a warrant for failure to appear.
