PINNACLE BANK ARENA (IUSTV Sports) – After a stellar performance at home against Michigan, Indiana Women’s Basketball took that momentum to Lincoln, Nebraska, defeating the Cornhuskers 91-69.

“I thought we looked really together today,” said head coach Teri Moren, “And tough from the tip, from the jump, so an excellent road win for us.”

Senior guard Sydney Parrish got the ball rolling again, going 7-for-7 from the three-point line. It was not a coincidence that Parrish kept finding the ball.

“I think that a lot of shooters just need to see one go in and then it’ll propel you for the next game,” said Parrish.

Alexis Markowski attempted to take control from the get-go, but the Hoosiers forced her hand to get Parrish the ball and finish the first quarter 20-15.

“This group in particular does a great job of finding each other and finding each other when they feel like someone has the hot hand,” said Coach Moren, “It’s no mistake that she [Parrish] had teammates out there that were trying to feed her and find her.”

The Hoosiers held their lead to 42-29 at the half and the Cornhuskers came out in the third ready to play. So did Indiana. Nebraska cut the Hoosiers lead to under ten twice, and each time Indiana answered quickly.

“We have a mature team and so you always revert back to that,” said Coach Moren, “That your team is mature and they’re veterans and they know how to handle themselves.”

One of those veterans being Chloe Moore-McNeil, who held Cornhusker’s Jazz Shelly to a scoreless 25 minutes as well as shooting 6-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 from three. Her success on both sides of the ball became the key to the Hoosiers running away with the scoreboard.

“I think she’s done a really good job at being more aggressive, and kind of hunting her shot and knocking down those open shots when teams sag off of her,” said Mackenzie Holmes.

“We’re asking her to do two things, right,” said Coach Moren, “Score the ball for us, run our offense, and also be a catalyst out there defensively.

There is no time to slow down, as Indiana will come back to Bloomington to face off against Penn State in just two days. That starts with success from leaders like Mackenzie Holmes, Sydney Parrish, and Sara Scalia.

“We got to keep our foot on the pedal,” said Coach Moren, “There’s always some area we can continue to improve, and we’ll go back and have to find that before Wednesday.”

Tip off against the Nittany Lions will be at 7pm in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall as Indiana will look to remain undefeated in conference play.
