The total solar eclipse on April 8 is just 77 days away, and Indiana University is encouraging student organizations to apply for grants to organize activities leading up to the astronomical event.
Registered student organizations can apply for the Solar Eclipse Student Grant through Jan. 28. Student organizations can use their management tool on beINvolved to apply for the grant.
There are several events planned for the months leading up to the eclipse. IU has cancelled all classes on April 8, to allow students to view the eclipse.
According to NASA, after April's eclipse, the next total solar eclipse to be visible from the lower 48 states will not be until Aug. 23, 2044.
