BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The woman who was found dead in a ditch on Sunday near South Walnut Street Pike was hit by a passing car and police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver, according to Bloomington Police Department Captain Ryan Pedigo.

The woman, who the Monroe County Coroner identified as 37-year-old Jade Sanders, was found to have injuries consistent with being hit by a car, an autopsy uncovered.
A passenger in a car driving by called police on Sunday after he spotted what he thought might be a body in a ditch beside the road. Pedigo said that police found security camera video from a nearby parking lot that showed a car hitting the woman around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
The car is believed to be a large, dark-colored SUV that was traveling south on Walnut Street Pike, Pedigo said. A specific make and model was not immediately known.
Witnesses in the area reported seeing the car pulled over near the intersection with Burks Drive, and that a middle-aged, dark-complected man dressed in a suit said he believed he had hit a deer.
Police say the SUV likely has front-end damage from the crash.
