The IU Women’s Tennis team had a rough start to their two-game weekend. The first game was against the Ohio State Buckeyes where the Hoosiers fell by a score of 4-0.
Eleven a.m. marked the beginning of the doubles portion of the match, where Indiana would fall 2-0. Ohio State’s Irina Cantos and Sydni Ratliff defeated doubles partners Nicole Teodosescu and Lene Mari Hovda 6-3. The Buckeyes’ Alessia Cau and Madeline Atway beat IU partners Chase Boyer and Elisabeth Dunac 6-4. The third match was left unfinished.
On to singles, OSU’s Cantos again defeated Teodosescu, this time in the #1 singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. In #6 singles, Ohio State’s Akanksha Bhan took down Magdalena Swierczynska in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. The final match to finish was the #2 singles where Sydni Ratcliff defeated Elisabeth Dunac in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. The rest of the matches remained unfinished to reach the final score of 4-0.
The Hoosiers fall to 0-4 in the Big Ten and 6-12 overall. They look to bounce back as they play Penn State on Sunday at 11 a.m.
