Bloomington Police searching for armed robbery suspect

BPD

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) — A Bloomington woman was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning, and police have yet to find a suspect, according to Bloomington Police Captain Ryan Pedigo.

Pedigo said that officers met with a 41-year-old woman just after 4 a.m. who reported she was robbed at gunpoint near her apartment on East Second Street. The woman claimed that after parking her car in the complex parking lot, two men approached her.

One of the men allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the woman, demanding her purse, which had cash and the woman's car keys. The woman says the man snatched her purse before running away towards the parking lot. Pedigo said that the woman noticed two cars leaving the parking lot, and one of them was hers.

A short time later, Pedigo says that Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies found the stolen vehicle while searching the area and began following it. The suspect then turned onto Kristen Court, which is a deadend, and got out of the car before running away from the area.

Pedigo said that officers were not able to find the suspect, and that the woman was later given a ride to take back her vehicle.

The investigation remains active, Pedigo said.
