HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. — An 84-year-old man allegedly shot and killed an 82-year-old woman and injured her son after an argument Friday night in Harrison County, Indiana State Police said in a release.
According to ISP, Harrison County Sheriff deputies and ISP Troopers responded to a reported shooting at a home on Mosquito Creek Road just after 6:00 p.m.
When they arrived at the home, first responders found a 56-year-old man who had been shot in the arm. Inside the home, police found the bodies of 84-year-old Donald Ray Weaver and the other victim's mother, 82-year-old Virginia Scofield.
According to Indiana State Police, detectives believe Weaver and Scofield had been arguing earlier in the evening. At some point Scofield's son had stepped outside the house and Weaver exited with a handgun, shooting the man in the arm.
The victim than ran to a neighbor's house and heard more gunshots coming from the house, which investigators believe that is when Weaver shot and killed Scofield.
Weaver then reportedly turned the gun on himself.
The shooting remains under investigation. ISP says that autopsies are scheduled for June 24.
