UPDATE: The DNR has identified the swimmer as Axel Xavier Richardson, 24, of Indianapolis. A cause of death is pending autopsy results.
ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana Conservation Officers pulled the body of a man from Patoka Lake Sunday, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The swimmer’s identity is being withheld until family is notified.
Around 6 p.m., Orange County Dispatch were notified that a man had gone under the surface of the water near the Painter Creek boat ramp and did not resurface.
The body was found about two hours later using sonar.
Patoka Lake is located in southern Indiana, about 70 miles south of Bloomington.
