Good samaritan dies while helping stranded driver

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — A person was hit and killed by a car while helping a fellow driver that was stranded on a Bartholomew County road Thursday.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around noon near the intersection of Highway 31 and W 800 N.

On scene, sheriff deputies found a man with significant injuries but he didn't survive.

Investigators believe the man had stopped to assist another driver with a disabled vehicle and was struck by another vehicle.

The sheriff's office did not release any other information on if the driver was detained or cooperated with the investigation.

The Bartholomew County Accident Reconstruction team is currently investigating the collision.
