Bloomington Police warn of recent phone scam

BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Police Department is giving warning about a recent scam targeting local residents.

According to BPD, several people have called to report getting a call from William Parker with the Bloomington Police Department, and that he says the person has a warrant out for their arrest and they must pay $3000.

BPD says they do not contact people over the phone and ask for money. The calls have reportedly been coming from (812)567-6784.

Police also warned that scammers are using the police department's phone number, (812)339-4477, to make other scam calls.

Anyone who receives a phone calls that seem like a scam from someone claiming to be from the Bloomington Police Department is ask to hang up and call the department to verify.
