DELPHI, Ind. — Richard Allen has been found guilty of all charges by a jury in Carroll County Court in the February 2017 deaths of teenagers Libby German and Abby Williams.
Jury deliberations in the case entered its fourth day Monday. In total, the jury spent about 19 hours together deliberating over parts of four days.
Allen faced two charges of felony murder and two counts of murder for his alleged connection to the crime.
Those charges are distinct from one another.
According to Judge Frances Gull's instructions to the jury read aloud last Thursday, felony murder is an act committed while committing another felony.
In Allen's case, per the prosecution, that's kidnapping.
Murder, Gull told the court, is knowingly or intentionally killing another person.
Allen faces more than 130 years in prison. He will be sentenced Dec. 20.
It was Feb. 14, 2017, when the bodies of German and Williams were found near the Monon High Bridge area in rural Carroll County.
In November 2022, Allen was arrested for his alleged connection to the case.
In interviews with police conducted in October 2022, Allen reportedly told investigators he was on the trails that day but never saw the girls.
This story will be updated.
