BLOOMINGTON — The City of Bloomington will offer free on-street and garage parking Thanksgiving weekend and some days in December.

Rates will be waived Nov. 29 and 30 for post-Thanksgiving shopping and "Small Business Saturday," the city said. Parking will also be free starting at 5 p.m. Dec 19 and last through Dec. 24.

Morton Street, Walnut Street, Fourth Street, and Trades District parking garages will be open and free during those times.

"Small Business Saturday is a catalytic day for our local retailers—in 2023 Small Business Saturday generated $17 million in revenue nationally." says Jane Kupersmith, the City's Director of Economic and Sustainable Development. "By supporting our local small businesses, we invest in our neighbors, retain dollars in our local economy, reinforce community relationships, and help the unique character of Bloomington flourish."
