Indiana State Police increasing patrols over Thanksgiving holiday

Indiana State Police

BLOOMINGTON — With the Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner, the Indiana State Police will be stepping up patrols to help slow down drivers and limit crashes.

The "Safe Family Travel" campaign starts Nov. 16 and will focus on impaired driving, aggressive driving and seat belt enforcement. ISP is joining law enforcement agencies from across the state to increase patrols on interstates and highways.

Troopers will work overtime with grant money from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

ISP encourages drivers to plan ahead to get home safely with a sober driver, and are reminding Hoosiers to never drive while impaired or let friends get behind the wheel if they've been drinking.
