Man arrested in North Carolina two years after Indiana murder

FORT LIBERTY, N.C. — Indiana State Police arrested a man in North Carolina two years wanted after a murder in Owen County. 

Troopers found 24-year-old Kenron Laing, of Crown Point, near Fort Liberty, North Carolina. He is charged with Murder, a felony, and is awaiting extradition to Indiana.

ISP says the investigation began Nov. 2, 2022 after 39-year-old Gildardo Garcia Salina was found shot dead in his Owen County home. During the investigation, ISP said detectives learned that Salina worked for a landscaping company and had worked at a hotel location that Laing was often at.

An arrest warrant was issued after police collected evidence and conducted interviews. ISP said troopers also traveled to Chicago for additional interviews. 

The case remains under investigation.
