BLOOMINGTON — A gas leak is believed to the reason an explosion caused heavy damage and injured one person at the Bloomington Shrine Club Monday.
The building on Thompson Ridge Road will stay closed until renovations are complete, which could last well into the new year, according to a Facebook post from the Shrine Club.
Firefighters responded to the building to find several windows blown out but no fire, according to the Monroe Fire Protection District.
Fire investigators are still working to figure out what caused the explosion but ruled it accidental.
The Ellettsville Masonic Lodge will be the host site for future club meetings until renovations are complete. The Shrine Club said there will be an open house when the renovations are complete.
