California earthquake registers at Bloomington seismic station

BLOOMINGTON — A 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck of the northern coast of California registered on a seismic station thousands of miles away in Bloomington, Indiana, according to Indiana University professor Cody Kirkpatrick.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was recorded at 10:47 a.m. Thursday, about 45 miles southwest of Eureka, California.

Tsunami warnings were issued but later cancelled for an area stretching from the San Francisco Bay to Eureka, Oregon, according to the U.S. Tsunami Warning System.
