Whitis continued north on State Road 46, reaching speeds of more than 90 miles per hour, according to state police. At one point, Whitis allegedly slowed down to try to hit the trooper’s patrol car.

Police later used stop sticks on the tow truck, which continued after the tired were deflating. Whitis reportedly hit the Blueberry Hill Pancake House building before coming to a stop in front of a UPS store.

According to ISP, Whitis complained he was suffering from a medical incident. He was taken to the hospital before he was later arrested.

Whitis faces several charges, including criminal confinement with a vehicle, a Level 5 felony; resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and criminal recklessness, both Level 6 felonies; and multiple misdemeanor traffic offenses.

Online court records show Whitis was also wanted on warrants in three counties for charges including meth possession, auto theft, and criminal mischief.
