BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on the northwest side of the city Thursday night.
A 48-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head outside a home on North Summit Street around 10:30 p.m., BPD said in a release.
Officers attempted lifesaving efforts and transported the man to an area hospital, but he later died.

The suspected shooter and several other witnesses were interviewed, according to BPD. Police collected other evidence, including the handgun that is believed to have been used in the shooting.
BPD says the people involved are known and knew one-another and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
As of publication, no arrest has been made.
