BLOOMINGTON — The City of Bloomington Department of Housing and Neighborhood Development is accepting applications for residents to request funding to improve their neighborhoods.

Three different grants are available during the 2025 cycle: Neighborhood Improvement Grant, Small & Simple Grants and Neighborhood Cleanup Grant.

Neighborhood Improvement Grant

Roughly $30,000 in grant funding is available for the Neighborhood Improvement Grant.

The grant covers projects like neighborhood entrance signs, traffic circle murals, public art, playground equipment, sidewalk restoration and landscaping.

Residents considering an application for this grant must attend one of two required virtual informational meetings on Jan. 30 and Feb. 4.

Small & Simple Grants

The city is also providing up to $500 a year through Sept. 1 for small and simple grants.

This money is available to use for community building, like neighborhood newsletters and celebrations, as well as for efforts to remove invasive plants and replace them with native species.

Neighborhood Cleanup Grant

Two Neighborhood Cleanup Grants will be awarded in 2025.

These grants provide resources for a one-day event for neighborhoods to utilize equipment assistance to dispose of trash, recycling, tires, scrap metal, electronics, hazardous materials, and brush.

Applicants must apply for the Neighborhood Cleanup Grant by March 3.
