BPD: Rape, two sexual assaults reported Wednesday

BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a rape and two sexual assaults that were reported to police Wednesday.

A 16-year-old girl reported she was raped, according to BPD Detective Sergeant Joe Henry. No other information is available as the case remains under investigation, Sgt. Henry said.

In a separate case, a 64-year-old woman reported she was sexually assaulted on West Third Street around 1:30 p.m.

Just hours later, an 80-year-old woman reported she was sexually assaulted by an unknown male while shopping at a store on East Third Steet, according to BPD’s daily summary.

Sgt. Henry said both cases are possibly related based on descriptions. Both cases have been assigned to a detective and remain under investigation.
