Monroe County under Travel Watch, up to four inches of snow possible

BLOOMINGTON — Monroe County is under a Travel Watch by the Monroe County Emergency Management Agency.

During a travel watch, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended.

All Monroe County Community School Corporation schools are closed Friday. All after-school activities are canceled and students will utilize eLearning, MCCSC said.

Monroe County remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until 4 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service expects Bloomington will get up to four inches of snow by Saturday morning.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is operating at full capacity, with more than 150 trucks expected to clear and treat state highways, interstates and roads all day Friday.

In a statement, INDOT Southeast said to carry patience as most routes take an average of two-to-three hours for crews to complete.
