UNIONVILLE, Ind. — The Monroe Fire Protection District was dispatched to a heavy structure fire at the 5000 block of N. Brummett’s Creek Rd at approximately 6:30 Tuesday night.
After receiving a 911 call from a neighbor, MFD’s Engine 24 arrived first on the scene, reporting a heavy fire throughout the house.
The fire rendered the building “structurally unsafe” for responding firefighters, so defensive measures were taken to put the fire out and keep personnel safe.
While putting out the fire, the roof collapsed on the house, causing debris to fall to the basement. Crews remained on the scene for several hours “drowning the house” with water to remove any remaining hot spots.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation. No one was injured in the fire.
