BLOOMINGTON — An Indiana State Police trooper hit by a drunk driver in January 2024 while helping a stranded motorist on an Indianapolis interstate has returned to work with the Bloomington district.
Trooper Azariah Keith was back on duty for Tuesday night's shift with the ISP Bloomington Post, according to a Facebook post.
"So glad to have him back on duty," Sgt. John Perrine wrote on Facebook.
Keith was hit by a suspected drunk driver on Jan. 20, 2024 while helping a motorist on Interstate 65 in Indianapolis, according to ISP.
The man accused of hitting Keith, Armaandeep Singh, pleaded guilty in June 2024 to a single charge of causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to WTHR. He was given a five-year sentence with three years of his sentence suspended and two years on probation, online court records show.

Trooper Keith, who Sgt. Perrine said grew up in the Bloomington area, was initially assigned to the Indianapolis post but transferred to Monroe County during his year-long recovery.
"We are glad to have him," ISP Bloomington Post Sgt. Kevin Getz wrote in a Facebook post.
Getz said Keith was a graduate of the 83rd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.
