BPD: Teen boy shot twice during argument

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) — A 14-year-old boy was shot twice after an argument ended in gunfire early Friday morning, according to the Bloomington Police Department.

BPD says that officers responded to an area on South Rogers Street just before 6 a.m. for reports of people yelling and possible gunshots. Several callers reported a boy with gunshot wounds was inside a home on Hay Court.

When officers arrived, they located the 14-year-old boy and rendered aid. The boy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say that the teen and another juvenile had been communicating before the two agreed to meet and fight each other. Several juveniles eventually arrived at the area and began arguing, when one of the juveniles reportedly produced a handgun and began shooting.

BPD says that officers located several shell casings from the scene, but the incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Detective Sarah Shannon at (812) 339-4477 or shannons@bloomington.in.gov.
