Monroe County remains under a travel advisory Saturday after a winter blast brought heavy snow and poor road conditions Friday evening, according to the Monroe County Emergency Management Agency and Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
Under a travel advisory, routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. Monroe County was originally under a travel watch.
The winter weather advisory, which was in effect until 9 p.m. Friday, has expired, according to the National Weather Service.
FRIDAY EVENING UPDATE:
Monroe County is under a travel watch as of Friday night for poor road conditions as a result of falling and accumulating snow, according to the Monroe County Emergency Management Agency and Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
Under a travel watch, conditions are considered threatening to the safety of the public. Only essential travel, like to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended.
A winter weather advisory is also in place until at least 9 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
