Indiana State Police increasing patrols during Thanksgiving travel

Troopers with the Indiana State Police are warning drivers to be cautious as more people are hitting the road this Thanksgiving holiday.

ISP is joining law enforcement agencies from across the state to increase patrols on interstates and highways.

“This holiday season, we expect to see a lot of traffic on the roads. Please make smart decisions by not mixing drinking and driving,” said Devon McDonald, Executive Director of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. “Be proactive and plan for a sober driver.”

Aside from speed enforcement, police will be on “high alert” for impaired drivers on state roads.

ISP encourages drivers to plan ahead to get home safely with a sober driver, and are reminding Hoosiers to never drive while impaired or let friends get behind the wheel if they’ve been drinking.
