NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Just one month after his engagement, Cameron Fathauer was hit by a car. He spent two and a half weeks in a coma and lost one-third of his skull. Doctors diagnosed him with a third-degree traumatic brain injury, predicting he’d have the mental capacity of a small child for the rest of his life.
When he woke up, he had to relearn how to walk, talk, and even remember the name of his now-wife. Despite all of this, the two got married only six months after the accident.
“I don’t care what our future looks like, as long as it’s together,” Chelsea Fathauer said.
Against all odds, Cameron is now an attorney and author. His book, “Saving The Subject” retells his miraculous recovery.
