IU Women’s Tennis now 4-0 after weekend’s sweeping victories

IU TENNIS CENTER (IUSTV Sports) – As the season continues for IU Women’s Tennis their winning streak is kept alive. The Hoosiers played another double header this weekend. Facing off against both Western Michigan and Chicago State. Once again winning both matches of the day.

The Western Michigan game began at 11 am with a strong start with doubles No.1 Lara Schneider and Lene Mari Hovda. Both IU and Western Michigan fought hard. Schneider and Hovda had the lead first then Western Michigan came back, but in the 9th set, the Hoosiers triumphed. Success continued for doubles No.3 Nicole Teodosescu and Sarah L’Allier where they were the final doubles match and won 6-4. The Hoosiers won the doubles portion of the match.

The IU Women’s team showed off their rally strength as singles began. No.1 Lara Schneider was the first of the singles to finish winning 2-0. The next win was No.4 Lene Mari Hovda who also won 2-0. Followed by No.6 Li Hsin Lin who won 2-1, and No.3 Li Hsin Lin who won 2-1. Overall, the Hoosiers won against Western Michigan 5-2.

The next match was against Chicago State at 5 pm. The Hoosiers didn’t lose strength in the second match. Where in doubles Lara Schneider and Lene Mari Hovda continue a personal four-game winning streak as doubles partners in the No.1 position. Doubles partner Elisabeth Dunac and Sarah L’Allier also won their match 6-2. Making hopes high as the match leads into the singles portion.

The first player to win a singles match was No.2 singles, Magdalena Swierczynska. Swierczynska was up 6-2 then her opponent retired giving her the first win. No.3 singles Elisabeth Dunac won her match 2–0, No.4 singles Li Hsin Lin won her match 2-0, and No.1 singles Saby Nihalani won hers 2-0.

No.5 Sarah L’Allier won her matches from a tiebreaker, winning 2-1 with her team watching in support. Overall on the day, the Hoosiers won 6-1 making their record for the season 4-0. And next week the IU Women’s Tennis team faces off against Yale University at home.
