IUPD investigating reported sexual assault by contracted janitorial worker

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (IUSTV News) – The Indiana University Police Department is investigating a reported sexual assault that allegedly involved a third-party janitorial worker that was contracted by the university, according to an IU Bloomington Crime Notice.

The Crime Notice says that neither the suspect nor victim are employees or students at IU.

The reported sexual assault allegedly happened twice during an overnight shift on Oct. 7, but was reported to police on Oct. 17.

The Crime Notice says that the victim was a contracted janitorial service worker and reported that their supervisor had forced them to drink alcohol during the shift, and then fondled them at an undisclosed residence hall.

A second assault reportedly occurred later that evening at the Indiana Memorial Union. The Crime Notice says that the suspect followed the victim into the restroom and sexually assaulted them.

IUPD says that the suspect is a 31-year-old white male, and has been issued a trespass order from all university property.

Additionally, the Crime Notice says that the contract with the janitorial services company has been terminated and no longer provide services to IU, however the Crime Notice did not say if any criminal charges have been filed.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call IUPD at 812-855-4111 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
