Woman sentenced in 2022 shooting

BLOOMINGTON — A Bloomington woman will spend just under two years on house arrest after pleading guilty to a shooting that happened in January 2022 in the Crestmont neighborhood.

Dalia Meyers, 28, pleaded guilty to criminal recklessness, a level 5 felony. The misdemeanor criminal mischief charge was dropped.

The gun used in the shooting, as well as any bullets or accessories will be destroyed. Meyers will also be required to pay for a damaged Bloomington Police Department camera that she damaged in an interview room.

The shooting happened just before 8p.m. on Jan. 12.

According to Bloomington Police, a 29-year-old woman was found shot in the head in the backseat of a Jeep Cherokee on North Illinois Street.

The car’s passenger side window was shattered.

Investigators learned from witnesses about a van and car that sped off from the area immediately after the shooting.

Police later tracked down Meyers, where she was arrested after an interview.
